Vancouver, Grouse Mountain, Gastown - The Opportunities are Endless
As we travel along the Sea to Sky Highway, through Squamish, “the outdoor recreation capital of Canada”, we get our first glimpse of the Pacific Ocean and Howe Sound. A stop at Shannon Falls gives us a great view of the imposing monolith of Stawamus Chief, and anyone who is a rock climber can join in the excitement and rope up and rappel down.
We then arrive to the city of Vancouver where you will enjoy our free Vancouver city tour which gives you a brief introduction to all the highlights including Stanley Park, Chinatown, Gas Town and Granville Island. After the tour, we will check you into your historic Gas-Town hostel and take you for dinner in the centre of all the action, right downtown Vancouver.

¨Toes in the ocean and head in the skies, Vancouver lies nestled in the slopes of the surrounding Coast Mountain Range. While this ocean side port city is known for its temperate climate, the surrounding snow-covered slopes are the venues for winter sports, summer recreation and breathtaking views of the city twinkling below.¨ - Hello BC
Camping…..in the Cambie Hostel
The Cambie Hostel, a heritage hostel, is right in the heart of the Gas Town region of Vancouver. It’s also home to one of the most popular bars and restaurants in the city. It’s just a short walk to Vancouver's downtown nightlife and major attractions so you won't have to go far to find what you are looking for.
From there the “Choose Your Own Adventures” are endless. To help you organize your time in Vancouver, the FreeBird team will spend time with each client organizing, planning and booking the perfect time for each individual while in Vancouver.
Grouse Mountain Attractions
Some of the most popular sights in Vancouver are Grouse Mountain, where you can see logging shows, bird shows, a lumberjack comedy, some incredible wood carvings, and the highlight the Refuge for Endangered Wildlife. The Refuge is a five-acre habitat, atop Grouse Mountain that is currently home to two orphaned grizzly bears and a pack of wolves. In addition, this place is a conservation centre dedicated to research and education. Other sites worth seeing are the Capilano Suspension Bridge and whale watching trips where you are guaranteed to not only see orcas, but also a great chance of dolphins and sea lion sightings. Or perhaps you might enjoy a visit out to Vancouver Island to explore “Garden City”, Victoria, British Columbia and the world famous Butchart Gardens.
Of course, being on the Pacific Ocean leads to every water sport imaginable, one of our favourite being renting a boat and doing a little sight seeing on your own.
