Golden - Paragliding and Whitewater Rafting
Next stop - our whitewater rafting destination – Golden B.C. Golden is where the meeting of the Kicking Horse River and the Columbia River creates a 60,000 hectare marshland reserve where we will camp for the night. But first the turbulent waters of the world famous Kicking Horse River awaits us. The guides at Wet and Wild will ensure the best whitewater rafting experience in all of Western Canada, as we hit Class 3 and 4 Rapids, see some incredible canyon scenery and even go for a shockingly cold swim in the glacier waters. Don't like the water? How about an adventure on 4 wheels? Quadding up the Rocky Mountains on an ATV is a story once told, will make you the envy of all your friends back home! Or for those who are interested in hiking or grizzly bear sighting, the Kicking Horse Resort is only minutes away from our camp and the gondola will take you up to the summit for breathtaking views and the highest restaurant in Canada where you can have a cold drink and enjoy the mountain serenity.

Camping at the Golden Eco-Adventure Ranch
The Golden Eco-Adventure Ranch fits right into our menu of adventure camping. Located at the foot of Mount 7 on the western banks of the Columbia River it’s close to the biking, paragliding and whitewater rafting that we’re about to experience. The campground includes over 400 acres of open meadows, native forest and wetland areas, making it a unique camping experience on our journey. The wildlife viewing and bird watching is amazing in the Columbia wetlands. The campground is surrounded by the Canadian Rocky Mountains and is close to the Yoho National Park with some of the most spectacular mountain hiking and scenery in the world. And last, but not least, they operate a paragliding park onsite so adventure seekers, prepare!

“Golden is nestled between the Purcell and Rocky Mountains, near the world-renowned Columbia Valley Wetlands. Hike throughout Golden's scenic terrain or paddle one of Canada's premier whitewater rivers. You can golf, rock climb or kick up dust on the area's cycling trails. East of Golden, visit Yoho National Park to see spectacular waterfalls, towering peaks and one of the world's most important fossil finds. Wildlife viewing in the Golden area is outstanding, ranging from Great Blue Herons to Grizzly Bears.” - Hello BC
Yoho National Park and the CPR Spiral Tunnels
This morning we leave Lake Louise and Banff National Park and approach the spectacular wilderness area of Yoho National Park. Our first stop is at the great engineering design, the Spiral Tunnels, where we learn about the history of the Canadian Pacific Railway and the original engineering and resulting catastrophes that once occurred here. As we marvel at the view and the accomplishment in front of us, we will watch a 4 km train enter the tunnels at the top of the mountain, and then see it come out at the bottom, while the rest of the train follows, still able to see both the engine and the caboose while the majority of the train is still in the tunnel. Incredible!
Tandem Paragliding – the Ultimate Adrenalin Rush
Back at the campground our evening meal and campfire will be enjoyed next to the Columbia River as we watch paragliders float from the top of Mount Seven, and land right next to us. But why just watch from the ground when we can get you up there to try it yourself! Experienced guides will take you to the heights of adrenaline on a tandem paragliding trip which will become a memory of a lifetime. One of our German clients, who by the way, is terrified of heights, took the jump and was literally smiling for days. “Unbelievable! I cannot believe I did that! So great!”.
